So, using a self-hosted version from WordPress.org provides more flexibility and control over your website.



WordPress.com is a free platform for building a blog and website with WordPress. You don’t have to manage a web server because it is done for you by the creators behind WordPress, making it one of the easiest blogging platforms.

Free accounts come with free hosting, a free subdomain, pre-installed SSL, free themes, and simple website customization options. But this free version has its limitations, such as you will not own your domain and will include WordPress.com in the URL.

Also, you are limited to upload custom themes or plugins unless you upgrade to a different plan. Without upgrading, your website will have WordPress default ads, and you can’t monetize your blog your way.
